AI in Leadership Development

AI can multiply a leader's good habits — prep a coaching conversation, pressure-test a decision, draft a change story. It can't replace the judgment. Use it accordingly.

Where AI genuinely helps

  • Coaching prep — generate GROW questions tailored to a specific situation before a 1:1.
  • Feedback drafting — rough out an SBI/BI message, then humanize it before delivery.
  • Decision pressure-testing — ask for the strongest case against your preferred option.
  • Pre-mortems — brainstorm failure modes you haven't imagined.
  • Learning curation — summarize research into a team-ready one-pager.

Where humans must stay in the loop

Never delegate to AI: the feedback conversation itself, performance judgments about people, anything involving private or health information, and any output presented as fact without verification. The tool prepares the leader; the leader does the leading.

AI drafts. Leaders decide, deliver, and own the outcome.

Guardrails that make it safe

  • Verification checklist: fact-check claims, demand sources, review for bias before anything ships.
  • Label the work: "AI-assisted; verified by ___" builds trust instead of eroding it.
  • Data rules: no names, no personal health or performance data in prompts.
  • An incident path: when AI output causes a problem, capture it and adjust the SOP.

Start small and honest

Pick one use case — coaching prep is the safest and highest-yield — run it for a month, and review what it changed. The AI prompt pack and verification checklist are in the tools library.

Try one AI-assisted coaching prep this week — then verify it.
